Herbert Duzant is a native New Yorker and veteran criminal defense investigator with over twenty-five years of experience.  Mr. Duzant is currently the senior investigator at the District of Nevada’s Federal Public Defender (FPD), where he handles both fact and mitigation investigations primarily on capital habeas cases.  Before joining the Nevada FPD in 2004, he spent the previous decade working trial cases at the New York State Capital Defender Office and the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem. He is licensed in several states and previously conducted private investigative work on a variety of retained and pro bono criminal and civil litigation matters, as well as missing persons cases. Mr. Duzant has presented on a wide variety of criminal defense topics over the past two decades.  He has served on several national training committees, professional association boards, and chaired both national and regional training conferences.  He is a strong proponent of client-centered-practices and advocates for increased training opportunities for non-attorney team members.
